Social media star Jake Paul defeated legendary boxer Mike Tyson via unanimous decision late Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in one of the most improbable matchups in the sport’s history.
All three judges ruled the fight in favor of Paul, with scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.
The win improves Paul’s professional record to 11-1 while dropping Tyson to 50-7.
"He's exactly what I thought, one of the greatest to ever do it," Paul said after the fight.
Tyson was asked if he was officially done boxing. He said he wasn't sure.
"I don't think so," Tyson said on the broadcast. "Maybe the brother (Logan Paul)."
Paul, 27, a social media star with more than 27 million Instagram followers and nearly 21 million YouTube subscribers, cruised in the bout.
After a first round that saw Tyson aggressive, his age caught up to him. Tyson appeared slow for most of the fight and barely landed any significant punches. His offensive output dropped considerably from the mid-rounds on. The much younger Paul peppered his opponent with jabs and hooks throughout the bout while taking little damage.
Paul was asked after the fight who he wants next.
“Anyone I want,” Paul said. “Everyone is next on the list.”
Paul made his professional debut in 2020. He has wins that include former UFC stars Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. His lone loss is a split decision last year against boxer Tommy Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Tyson, 58, is known as one of the best — and most intimidating — boxers ever. He opened his professional career with 19 straight finishes, 12 of which came in the first round. He later knocked out Trevor Berbick at the age of 20 to become the youngest heavyweight champion ever. Tyson reigned over the division from 1987 to 1990, claiming and retaining the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts en route to a 37-0 start.
His first career loss was a 10th-round knockout defeat to Buster Douglas in 1990 in what is considered the greatest upset in boxing history.
Tyson returned to the ring 20 times since that defeat, going 13-5 with two "no contests." He has not competed since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.
In the co-main event, Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano via unanimous decision (95-94 on all three judges cards). The bout, a rematch from their epic first meeting, was another instant classic that saw 324 landed punches.
Though the card had great fights throughout, fans online complained about constant buffering issues for the stream.

Greg Rosenstein
Yes. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has sanctioned the event. There will, however, be a few small changes compared with other heavyweight fights.
The main event will be eight two-minute rounds instead of 10 or 12 three-minute rounds, and both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves rather than 10-ounce gloves.
Because it is sanctioned, the result will count in their records.

Streaming problems evoke frustration, jokes
Phil Helsel
The undercard of the much-hyped Tyson vs. Paul event ran into some trouble, and it had nothing to do with the boxers in the ring.
Annoyed views on X complained of frozen, stuttered or low-quality video on the stream from Netflix.
Users shared gifs of highly pixelated videos, or images of wires and comments suggesting that the streaming company’s IT department must be in for a rough night.
One even dusted off the old “connecting” screen from the America Online days to make a joke about the problems.
A spokesperson for Netflix said the company had no comment at this time.

Tyson gets too real with 14-year-old interviewer
David K. Li
Tysonstunned a teenage girl on Thursday after she lobbed him an easy feel-good question — onlyto get a shockingly bleak response about death and eternal nothingness.
The jaw-dropping comments came as Tyson did a round of interviews ahead ofhis high-profile boutwithPaul.
When 14-year-oldJazlyn Guerra, the young journalist behindJazzys World TV, asked what kind of “legacy” he hopes to leave behind, the unflinching Tyson explained how fleeting and seemingly meaningless strolling this planet could be.
“I don’t believe in the word ‘legacy.’ I think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean nothing. That’s just some word everybody grabbed on to. Someone said that word and everyone grabbed on to that word, now it’s used every five seconds,” Tyson said in an interview that posted on Thursday.

Paul does not see this fight going the distance
Greg Rosenstein
Paul was asked earlier this week what goes through his mind when he thinks of vintage Tyson.
“I fear no man, so I want him to be that old savage Mike," he said. "He says he’s going to kill me. I’m ready. I want that killer. I want the hardest match possible Friday night, and I want there to be no excuses from everyone at home when I knock him out.”
Does he see this going the distance?
“No, someone’s getting put to sleep. It’s going to be a war, and we’re both heavy hitters. It’s not going the full 16 minutes.”
Official weigh in results
Greg Rosenstein
Both fighters weighed in for the final time and are almost the exact same weight. Paul, at 6-foot-1, does have a three-inch height advantage over Tyson.
Wasn’t this fight supposed to happen over the summer?
Greg Rosenstein
Yes. It was initially scheduled for July 20, butTyson suffered an ulcer flareupwhile he was on a flight that postponed it.
On “Countdown: Paul vs Tyson,” a pre-fight documentary, Tyson described in detail what he went through.
“I had a big ulcer, 2½ inches, and it was bleeding,” Tyson said. “All my friends were calling me like I was dying. I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and she didn’t say ‘No.’ ... You wouldn’t believe what I endured from my ulcer. I lost 26 pounds.”
Age gap could be the difference tonight
Greg Rosenstein
Tyson still packs a huge punch, even at 58, but he's fighting someone half his age in the peak of his professional boxing career. Since Tyson last fought — a sixth-round TKO to Kevin McBride in 2020 — Paul has competed 10 times.
Ring rust is a real thing. How much will it affect Tyson tonight? He's looked good in training but it could be different in the ring and his cardio is not anywhere close to what it used to be.
Tyson slapped Paul at weigh-ins

At ceremonial weigh-ins on Thursday, Tyson faced off with Paul for the final time before their bout. Craziness ensued when Tyson slapped Paul across the face.
